Why send a gift hamper in the first place I hear you ask?
When we were launching Gift Boss, a couple of well-meaning friends and family members did make a few remarks along the lines of “I like what you’re doing, but I’m not sure when I would send a gift hamper. Normally I just (get them something from the shops / give them a voucher / do nothing at all).”
I would generally answer along the lines of “That’s fine if you’re seeing them face to face, but what if your friend or family member lives in a different State… or you’re just too busy to go to the shops / post office? Wouldn’t you want someone to pack and send the gift for you?”
Ordering a gift hamper online and having it delivered for you is literally telling someone you care, but doing it in a way which saves you time and effort. Everything is organised in one go from your mobile or computer, including your message for the card. Many of our orders come in on a Sunday night, which, if you’re anything like us, is the perfect time to be sitting on the couch doing some online shopping for the week ahead.
What has surprised us a little on our gift hamper learning curve is that our gift hampers aren’t just being sent to people who live far away from us. Some customers are getting the gift hamper delivered to themselves, so they can present it to their loved one in person. This year, we had lots of dads asking for Mother’s Day gift hampers to be delivered to them first, and we also send the occasional birthday gift hamper or baby shower gift to customers who intend to take it with them to an event.
So, if these customers are not taking advantage of getting a gift hamper delivered directly to their friend or family member, then why choose a gift hamper in the first place?
Well, we’re pretty upfront about how great our products and suppliers are. We put lots of time and effort into scouring the gifting world for the best and most unique products to fill our hampers. Many gift hamper companies say they’re unique, but they just stock the same products as other companies do. We will never do boring or stock standard or cheap and nasty.
Instead we attend industry trade shows, do A LOT of online research, participate in online business forums and scour Instagram for the latest and greatest products. Most of the products we choose for Gift Boss are created by boutique Australian suppliers with an eco-friendly mindset because more and more customers are demanding this. For example, we’ve got honey made from Melbourne city rooftops, earrings made by a mum-of-three in Adelaide, and turmeric latte made by an entrepreneurial brother and sister duo.
We also look for products that add humour, are beautifully packaged, and look amazing.
And we have the time to do this because this is our business and our mission, and we’re deeply passionate about it. So how does this help you?
